Cleaning is done daily in the cat arena. As cats are adopted and, if they had an individual condo, cage, or basket assigned to them, it must be cleaned and prepared for any incoming cats. Litter boxes must be scooped throughout the day and blankets brushed daily. All food and water dishes are washed daily and topped up at the end of each day.
Grooming is beneficial in two ways. Firstly, it makes the cat feel and look good, and secondly, it reinforces trust between cat and human. It may be necessary to clip nails. A cat that looks groomed will be more presentable for adoption.
When cats first arrive at the Haven, they will be placed in the observation area depending on their condition. If the animal is ill on arrival, veterinary help will be obtained. Once a clean bill of health is given, the cat will then be transferred to the adoption section and slowly introduced to the rest of the cat population. If the cat needs to be isolated away from the rest of the cat population, then special attention is required in cleaning/disinfecting these areas.
We are a charitable, non-profit organization and, therefore, fundraising will be on-going and crucial to the success and daily operation of the Haven. There are numerous ways in which we can achieve this. Listed below are some fundraising strategies that you may be able to help with. New ideas are always welcome and the more people involved the better our chances for success. All money raised goes to the animals and the operation of the Haven.
