Where is the Haven located?
Our facilities and office are located at 49843 Chilliwack Central Road in Chilliwack, 3.3 kilometres east of Cannor Nursery, on the left. Please do NOT drop off animals; call our office instead.
Do I have to pay a fee when dropping off a pet?
NO FEE IS CHARGED, although donations of any amount or supplies are always welcome. We also offer a pet sponsorship program, similar to the child sponsorship programs for children in third world countries.
How does the pet sponsorship program work?
Pet owners and others who are unable to provide a home for pets may choose to financially sponsor an animal at the Haven. Sponsors are welcome and encouraged to visit their sponsored pet at the Haven whenever they are able.
What does it cost to adopt a cat?
The adoption fee for cats is $130. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, tattoo, de-fleaing, and de-worming. If you're adopting a kitten, it will not be spayed or neutered until around 6 months. You will have to bring the kitten to us at that age and we will take it in to be done.
What is your policy on euthanasia?
The Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven Society doesn't want to put any animal down. The decision to euthanise is based on humane reasons only (illness, injuries, and ability to recover) as decided by an attending veterinarian. We want all animals to be adopted into loving homes or to live out the remainder of their lives at the Safe Haven.
I found a cat and can't keep it. What can I do?
Check for a tattoo, which is normally found in the right ear. Find out if the cat belongs to someone by putting an ad in the paper. See if any of your neighbours know where the cat came from. Contact a veterinarian's office to see if you can put an ad with them or ask if they know of anyone looking for a cat. Try and find a home for it. If you can foster it temporarily, we can put your name on our waiting list for placement of the cat at the Haven.
I lost my cat. Do you have it there?
Please call our office and we will check our list of cats. If we don't have your pet, we will take down your information in the event someone calls us about a found cat.
